South African batsman AB de Villiers slammed the fastest hundred in One Day Internationals off just 31 balls in the second One-Day International (ODI) against West Indies on Sunday at Johannesburg.
The Proteas ODI captain broke New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson’s record of 36-ball ton that he set last year, as the former’s thunderous knock included 16 sixes and 9 fours.
De Villiers perished for 149 off 44 deliveries, just one run short from Shane Watson’s record of fastest 150 runs in 83 balls against Bangladesh.
The terrific knock helped South Africa score a mammoth total of 439-2. His innings overshadowed Hashim Amla’s unbeaten 153 and Rilee Rossouw’s 128, as the pair shared the first wicket partnership of 247 runs.
De Villiers’ stupendous feat was congratulated by the cricket world on Twitter.
Not the worst entertainment from AB right now. Best in the world without a doubt. #SAvWI
